The month of April is punctuated by reminders of hope; the warmth and brightness and verdance of spring are just on the horizon! In our gardens, tulips and daffodils are the early “voices” announcing that spring is arriving! And in just a few weeks, on Holy Saturday morning, we will sing “Arise O Lord!” in anticipation of the Resurrection.
Meanwhile, here at school, we are moving forward with semester goals and projects: our veteran archers, with another year’s worth of practice and growth, will compete at the state tournament. Students who have taken up the challenge to memorize all 70 stanzas of the poem “Horatius at the Bridge” will strive for the Winston Churchill medal. Across the school, science classes, whose observations of insects, trees, farming, and weather were in hibernation, will resume their outdoor surveys as the natural world awakens from winter’s sleep. Second and third graders will share their carefully-prepared speeches as characters in their literature-themed wax museum.
One other goal for this month is our nut butter drive! Each year during Lent, our school participates in the act of almsgiving – reaching out with material aid to those in need. Because we are a school, our Lenten project is often related to helping local children. This year, our students are collecting a lunchbox staple – peanut butter – for Wichita families that need an extra helping hand. Our goal is to collect enough peanut butter (and other nut butters) for a thousand sandwiches. The jars will be delivered to the Kansas Food Bank during the middle school service day on April 24th. We are up to 420 oz. of peanut butter in the box – enough for 367 sandwiches – we need another 723 oz. to make our goal!

New Playground Process After School
It’s wonderful to see our school community enjoying the warmer weather and sunshine on the playground after school! It’s equally heartwarming to witness the teamwork among parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, godparents, and friends as everyone looks out for the children.
To ensure the safety and supervision of all students, we’re introducing a new check-in process, starting Monday, March 31st. A CSA staff member will circulate on the playground with a clipboard to record which children each adult is supervising.
As Mrs. Earles communicated earlier this year, all students must be supervised either by an adult present on the playground or by our After-School Care Staff. Please remember that students supervised by the After-School Care Staff will be charged the standard program fee.
Additionally, please remember that the supervising adult is responsible for directing his/her children to abide by the posted playground rules. This ensures a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
If you won’t be on the playground to supervise your child, please coordinate with another adult who can supervise them in your absence.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation!
